Derek Beitzel
Mr. Beitzel has nearly two decades of experience across all sectors of the interest rate swap business. As the founder of a derivatives group at Hibernia Bank in 1992, he set up both front and back-office trading systems, wrote derivatives credit and accounting policies and handled regulatory reporting. In addition, he developed marketing materials and sales tools for use with the bank’s corporate clients.
After joining KeyBank in 1995, Mr. Beitzel assumed responsibility for marketing to clients in the bank’s northeast region. Over the next four years, he and his expanded team of marketers closed more than $3 billion in transactions in the region. In 2000, Mr. Beitzel was named managing director and national sales manager. In this capacity, he managed a nationwide group of marketers and support personnel responsible for more than 1,000 swap transactions annually.
Since co-founding B&F Capital Markets in 2003, Mr. Beitzel has worked with client banks throughout the U.S., establishing swap programs and meeting with commercial clients to explain the swap product. From B&F’s regional office in Austin, Texas, he travels weekly to meet with current and prospective client banks and their customers.
Mr. Beitzel has degrees in finance and real estate from the University of Texas at Austin.
